In olden days, before computers, converting concept sketches for a new design into detailed technical drawings required skilled draftsmen, painstakingly wielding pencil, paper, square, and compass. The drawings were then copied using a chemical process that produced an image of white lines on a blue background: a “blueprint.” These blueprints held the information a machinist needed to accurately machine the metal (or other material) to the required specifications.

Advanced Editor (AE) is a standard control feature on both mills and lathes. AE is a highly powerful program editing application. It provides many benefits and capabilities. The clipboard and the editor help window are visible at the bottom of the screen. Cycle start in the active program takes you directly to graphic mode.

Tool Life Management (TLM) is a standard control feature that works well with ATM. TLM is accessed from the Current Commands screens. The user sets a value in the ALARM column. The control updates LIFE each time tool is called. When life exceeded, machine alarms out.

Tool Load Monitoring is accessed from the Current Commands screens. MAX% is recorded when the program is executed. LIMIT% is set by the user. SETTING 84 controls the TOOL OVERLOAD ACTION
When the load is exceeded the machine performs one of the following actions:
Alarm
Feedhold
Beep
Autofeed
